The Central African Republic (CAR) is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It has a population of 4.6 million and its capital city is Bangui. The CAR was once part of the French colony called Ubangi-Shari, which became the Central African Empire in 1875, when King David Dacko took power. The empire was renamed to Chad after gaining independence from France on August 11 1960. The country gained complete independence from France two years later in January 1964.
On May 10th 1979, Colonel Jean Bedel Bokassa overthrew President David Dacko’s government and declared himself president for life with plans for himself as emperor for life before being ousted by Colonel André Kolingba who ruled until 1993 when Ange-Felix Patasse took over again until 1996 when Ange-Felix Patasse was deposed by General Andre Kolingba who ruled until 2003 when Francois Bozizé came into power he ended up getting deposed again by Séléka rebel groups lead by Michel Djotodia who named himself president but had many problems trying to control his forces so he resigned on January 10th 2014 bringing about peace talks between anti-balaka militias and Séléka rebels led by Michel Djotodia which occurred between February 24th 2014 – April 7th 2014.

Chad is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It borders Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the west, and Niger to the northwest. Chad’s capital is N’Djamena, which is also its largest city.
The history of Chad can be traced back over 1 million years ago where it was first inhabited by hunter-gatherers in its north-central region around N’Djamena. The Sao culture flourished from around 500 BC with its art reaching heights of sophistication during this time period.
